There is a Bear in my Berry Patch....

...I think that's what the guild named of this quilt.  This quilt is heading to the Northern Juried Art Show in Gilliam Manitoba in April.   I was asked by the guild to take this traditional style quilt and make it "Artsy".   That was a problem...it's not an Artsy quilt and no matter what I do to it it will still be a traditional quilt.   So not wanting to disappoint my guild I did my best to have fun with it and approached it one block at a time.   I think it turned out more whimsical and folky but that is what it 'Whispered' to me.  I hope the guild members are happy with it, that is what matters.  In the quilt I hid a bee hive, bunny, butterfly, dragonfly and some bear scat ( *big grin* just had too).

  1. I love it!! With knowing the amount of time put in,the people involved, the sharing of ideas, etc. you have truly helped make it a special guild quilt! Can't wait to do some eye spying! Have fun selling tickets with my usual partner! "the one in the south"

  4. Just from the photos the log cabin section is my favorite portion. There should lots of instense looking at all aspects of the quilting as we search for the hidden extras! That seems to be evolving into a "Kathy" trademark.
Another great job. I am really disappointed that I will have to wait until March to see the quilt up close and personal. A

  5. I am truly amazed at the final results with the guild piecing the blocks and then the final touch by your skillful longarm quilting. You have brought it to life and hey I wouldn't mind camping out in the area with all those blueberries around. I did locate the butterfly.. too cute! These extras are definetly your trademark... go with it girl!
