This is Debbie’s quilt and the fabric collection is Moda’s Black Tie Affair. She asked for the Curlz for the pantograph design which give this quilt a lovely texture with the pieced squares. The batting is Quilters Dream Blend and I used a medium beige So Fine thread.

Chic Picnic Quilt
This is Wendy’s Chic Picnic quilt and it is a pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful using there Quick Curve ruler. I actually pieced this quilt for Wendy as it will be a shop sample. When I was at her place this January and looking at her pile of quilt kits she needed to make I said “give me one to take home and make”. So I came home with Chic Picnic! I know I would have fun quilting it and I did! This will be available as a kit at Wendy’s shop Fabriculous in Swan River, MB. The fabrics are a collection of Cotton and Steel with a light beige background.
I quilted it all with a light beige So Fine thread and used the 15” Quilted Pineapple Curved template to quilt the curves. I also used the Quilted Pineapples 12” Straight Edge rulers for the lines. The rest is done free hand. When I quilted out the first diamond shape and send Wendy a photo to see if she liked the design I said I was ready to rip it out as the pebbles were pretty big! She loved the large pebbles ( 1 1/4” in diameter) and called them ‘Big Boulders” and they had to stay. So I quilted Big Boulders which are harder than pebbles, so in case your crazy like me and want to try that you have been warned!
The back is a solid grey Colourworks fabric by Northcott. The solid fabrics show off the quilting so well.

Snowman Country Quilt
This is Raye’s Snowman Country Quilt and it is a pattern by Bunny Hill Designs. All the snowman are hand appliqued by Raye with a beautiful buttonhole stitch! She asked for custom quilting and I had fun quilting it with a folksy country feel. Lots of loop, stipple, curls, straight lines and cross hatching plus I stitched in the ditch around all the applique and seams. I used five different colours of thread, all So Fine and the batting is Quilters Dream Blend.
Here are some close up pictures of the blocks.

Star Quilt and a Blizzard!
This is Susan’s Star quilt and I love the selection of fabrics she picked for this quilt, very pretty. She asked for the Plush pantograph and it added just the right textures to this quilt! The thread used is white So Fine and the batting is Quilters Dream Blend.
So as you can see we did get some snow this week, about 45 cm, and then the winds hit! We haven’t had a blizzard like this here in a long time. Schools and highways across Manitoba were closed for two days which is very rare up here. Once the winds died down and the sun came out the temperatures just dropped. This morning it was –36’c with –40 windchill! No signs of spring here.
I stuck my ruler into the snow and had to dig down to expose it and show that it was my 24” ruler!
This was taken during the storm.
Lots of hard packed snow drifts in the yard once the storm ended.
Love all the ripples in the snow on the lake.
You can barely see where the road was ploughed to our dock on the lake as it is all blown in.
You can see in the pictures below my ice rink has completely filled it! I’ll try to dig that out once it warms up a bit.

Plus Quilt
This is Rae’s Plus quilt and she asked for the Bushberries pantograph. This is one of my favorite leaf pantographs and looks so nice on this quilt. I used a medium beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting. We are getting a lot of snowfall today and the forecast is for a blizzard tomorrow so no outdoor pictures for the next few days! This is the first big snowfall we have had since October so I’m enjoying watching the snow fall. It has been a strange winter and for the 20 years I have lived here I have never seen such low snowfall amounts. We only had about 6” on the ground up to today and usually there is about 2 to 3 feet of snow accumulation on the ground by March.
Rae brought a beautiful dark brown Fireside for the backing that shows off the quilting!
I also had my blog printed into a book again, I do this every year so I have a hard copy of my blog. I use a company called Blog2Print and if you have a blog and want to try this I would recommend you sign up on the site and then wait a day or two before ordering your book as they email a lot of coupon codes. I usually wait until I receive the 25% to 30% off deals, they rarely go over 30%.
Here is a peek at the inside.
I now have 8 books in my collection!

City Slicker #10
This is Sherron’s City Slicker quilt and she used a Lucien jelly roll from the L’s Modern Basic collection along with a white background fabric. I used the Water Wing pantograph, white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.
The Northern Lights were active again for a short time last night and the sky was clear. It was –30’c so I didn’t stay out long.
