Four Patch Charm Quilt #6

This is Laura’s Four Patch Charm Quilt which is my free pattern that you can download off my blog sidebar as a PDF.  I love the colours of the batiks Laura used, they remind me of sea glass colours.   She asked if I could quilt it just like my original quilt and I was happy to oblige!  I quilted all the pebbles and swirls free hand as well as the CC’s in the triangles, just used a straight ruler for the SID.   I used an off white Bottom Line 60wt thread on the top and bottom and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

So this is my last client quilt for June and I plan on working on a few of my own quilts this summer when I can find time and I promise to share those with you!  I also have a guild quilt top that I want to finish for them as it is a large one and wouldn’t be fun for them to quilt on a domestic machine.  So I will still be blogging just not as often.

Eagles, Luna Moth and an Update

On Sunday we drove to the dump and spotted 9 eagles high up in the tree tops.  We had noticed 2 eagles there the week before so I was prepared with my camera this time but didn’t bring my super zoom lens. I’ll do that this Sunday in hopes of see them again.  There were quite a few fledglings but they were usually sitting in a different tree from their parent, until this happened!

I was told the fledglings do not develop the white head until they are around 7 years old.

Then I also spotted a beautiful Luna Moth in my yard last week.  I had not idea what it was until I posted pictures on Facebook.  My friends educated me on this rare sighting up north as we must be on the edge of their habitat. It camouflaged very well on my plum tree and I’m surprised I noticed it.

And now an update on our move…we received an offer to purchase the house before putting it on the market so what a relief!  It all happened very fast and I am so happy to not have to show the house at a moments notice,  I can just enjoy one last summer here!   Possession date is September 1, now to find a new house in Ontario!

I have one last client quilt to share for June but it has been raining all week!  Hope the sun shines soon so I can get pictures.

Two Quilts, Same Pattern

I am sharing two of Jo Ann’s quilts in this blog post.  Both are made with the same pattern ( sorry she couldn’t remember the name of the pattern) but they look very different as they are made with different fabrics.   First one is made with Cantik Batiks Nunavut Gemstone bundle plus yardage.  I chose Ebb and Flow for the panto, used light beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

The second quilt is made with a purple fabrics and I used a feminine panto called Bountiful Feathers.   Light purple So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Summerfest Quilt

This is Melanie’s quilt and she used the Missouri Star Quilt Company’s Half Hexagon template to make this quilt with the help of a YouTube video.  She used a Moda Layer Cake of Summerfest fabric by April Rosenthal.   I picked the Rhapsody pantograph, white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Good Vibrations #2

This is Eileen’s Good Vibrations quilt which is one of our Highway 10 Designs patterns.  Eileen used a Cantik Batik Gemfive called Twilight to make her quilt and the bright colours are fabulous!   I used Curlz for the pantograph design, peach So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Georgi Giraffe

This is Sandra’s Georgi Giraffe quilt and the pattern is by The Quilt Patch.  She purchased this as a kit from Fabriculous in Swan River, MB.   I quilted 3’s and E’s in the body of the quilt and l’s and e’s in the two teal borders.

Don’t you just love the Giraffe print Cuddle fabric?  She used it on the back too!

Lug Nuts and Some Exciting News!!!

This is Debbie’s Lug Nuts quilt using Moda’s Little Black Dress fabric collection.   I used the Allium pantograph, medium beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Now for my news…..we are moving!!   We have lived in Northern Manitoba for 21 years, my boys were born and raised here and we just love the people and area but it is time for a change.    We have been talking about moving for a few years now but wanted to wait until our youngest graduated High School which happens this month.   My husband was offered a new job last week and he accepted it so he will be leaving at the beginning of July and the boys and I will stay here until the house sells and we have a new place. I’m hoping to be here over the summer and leave the end of August.   So much to do these next few months it is crazy!  Where are we moving to you ask?    1,100 km south east of here to Northwestern Ontario and to a little town of 1,200 people called Emo. It is right on the US border on the other side of the Rainy River.  The best thing is I will only be a 30 minute drive from the Canadian Shield and more beautiful lakes!!  So it won’t be out my door anymore but it will be close by for photo opportunities with my quilts!  Now this will mean I will be temporarily closing Tamarack Shack at the end of June and not sure I will be up and running by September.  But once I have a new place and somewhere to set up my longarm I will be back in business.  So wish me luck in finding a house that will have a nice spot for my longarm, otherwise Tim will have to build me “Tamarack Shack 2!”    I plan to keep blogging as I work on my clients quilt in June and hope to have some time to quilt a few of my own project before the move.  I can’t believe this is actually happening but we are all excited about our new adventure!
