Summer Giveaway!

There's not a lot of quilting going on here as the weather is so nice and I am spending more time outside than at my sewing machine.  So I though why not have a Giveaway to celebrate the lazy days of summer.
The prize is this colourful Rainbow fat quarter bundle of my hand dyed fabric.   These fabrics definitely shout "Summer"!

So all you have to do is leave a comment and if you want you could tell me what you enjoy doing on a hot summers day besides quilting.  I need to know I'm not the only one slacking in the quilting department this summer.
If you comment 'anonymous' please just add your name and email so I can contact you if you win.
I'll mail the fabric bundle international too and make the draw next week on July 30th.  :)

*Giveaway is now closed*

  4. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway, Kathy! I think I might try some snow-dying this winter, but in the meantime, there's no harm in hoping I win this fabulous bundle, is there?

I actually do a lot of quilting in the summer, since this is the season where there is much less demand on my time. But when I'm not stitching, love to sit out on my deck with a good book.

  5. Hi Kathy! I hope you are enjoying your summer, those fabrics are so pretty.... I'm spending some time quilting and piecing, plus we have gotten in some beach time and family vacations. We have had so much rain lately, I can't sit out in the evening watching the birds at the feeder - the mosquitos have been awful. Good thing I do like quilting.

  9. Beautiful bundle of fabrics, I can already think a few ideas of what to do with them if I win. These warm days of summer are not being spent doing much quilting either, getting ready for a move so lots of purging and packing. Wish I was outside with a cool drink and a book.

Not much quilting going on here either. Some embroidery in the evenings. I miss my sewing machine but winter will come soon enough! I love your blog - the stories and pictures are wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. I might win for having the most pathetic answer. I love to weed my garden when it's a great summer day.

  19. Your fabric has lovely colours. I work in the garden every day, and really enjoy it. My garden is like a big quilt, green with all colours of pink, lila/purple, white and burgundy. I try to make the best combinations and the nice thing is that the "quilt" changes every few weeks.
Have a wonderful summer and enjoy the garden. Winter comes soon.

  22. I live in interior AK so it doesn't get that hot....but we usually have nice summers in the 70's & 80's F. This summer has been lousy with all the rain so I've been doing more quilting than normal. We are usually found at the lake skiing and tubing...although this soon to be 60yr old body can't take the tubing anymore, kills the old neck. I leave that bit for the kids & grandkids. LOL

  23. Up here in Cleveland, OH the weather has been too warm for any outdoor activities except running the sprinkler so my tomatoes don't whither away. I've been enjoying the air inside and doing a bit of painting that needed to be done (bathroom and hallway). I also managed to organize my craft cupboard and put together a bag of donations for Goodwill this past weekend.

    Thanks for the chance.

  26. Hi Kathy,
I do like seeing your wonderful quilts-both yours and other peoples when you have finished doing your magic on them.. On a hot summers day I like to be in shade with a bit of a breeze and reading a book. Although it is only a memory right now as it is the middle of winter in the South of New Zealand.

Thank goodness you're back....I've been having withdrawals!
In summer I like to read all the blogs from my quilty friends on the other side of the world. Seeing all that ice & snow always has a "cooling" affect!

I don't like the heat, so when I'm not quilting, I look for cool activities - anything I can do inside. Reading is right at the top of the list.

  34. I enjoy staying inside where it is air-conditioned, and sewing! We have been having terribly hot weather here, with temps up to 106F, so I have gotten somethings finished!

  35. Hi Kathy! Hmmm, had to really think about what I love to do this summer. When the weather is scorching hot, I can be found in my studio working on a quilt. I have just finished piecing two Halloween quilts for my grands. I have a number of tops lined up ready for Millie, so that will be the next step. When I'm not at the office or in my studio quilting, I love to spend my time with my family. The two grands are so fun to be with, I can never get enough of them or my grown kids. :-) Love your fabrics, they look delicious! Have a wonderful summer!

  36. Besides sewing? I like to buy fabric!

  37. Hi Kathy - in this hot weather I spend time hand sewing binding on small projects in front of a fan. My sewing room is in the attic and much too uncomfortable. I love reading quilt related blogs and yours is one of the first 'go to's' in the morning. You take such wonderful photographs and seem to know exactly which quilting pattern to use to enhance client's and your own quilts. Beautiful!

  38. Kathy - I just left my comments and realized there is no name attached to them - mmmm, I really can quilt better than I can navigate on a computer. I admire anyone that has a blog. Thank you for the opportunity to win gorgeous fabrics. Sherry

  39. What I love about my summers is that they are a calmer time for me. A time that I Have for my self. I get to decide my schedule, do as I wish and not do. Read all day or not..clean house or NOT, sleep away the day or not. Just be ....

Love the fabrics they remind me of summer

  40. Kathy, your fabrics are gorgeous! The colors are so cheerful and bright, love to win them. I still love to sew and quilt in summer, but on very hot days I find it good to turn the air conditioning on and spend time on the computer, typing letters, answering e-mails and watching quilt videos. 54. Hi, Kathy. This is a different summer. As I gaze at the Kenai mountain range, it is not hot and dry like at home. Rather it is cool and cloudy. What is lacking in heat and sunshine is made up for by the gorgeous scenery. I am looking forward to a day cruise on Resurrection Bay Wednesday afternoon. If you read this before guild, "hi" to everyone. I sure have some good ideas for the hand dyes should I be so lucky as to win. A

  57. Kathy, I have loved seeing the quilts you have made with your gorgeous hand-dyes. How generous your offer is!

We have hot summers where we live and one of our favorite ways to beat the heat is to head over to the coastline of California and spend the weekend or even just a day. I wish we could do so more often.

  58. This hearty Manitoban likes to try and quilt year round when I'm not working in the garden. It helps me avoid the house work and mending that seems to pile up. After all, asking a quilter to mend is like asking Picasso to paint your garage!!!

  67. I love visiting other parts of the country - and it always seems better on a hot, summer day. Where I live I can go to the Rockies to the West, or the prairies to the east . . . always changing scenery. At this time of year, the fields are beautiful, and as the crops ripen, the colors change every day. Maybe someday I'll make it out to your neck of the woods. Have a wonderful summer.
