Thunderstorms!

Yesterday was had severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches all day.  The storm finally arrived around 10pm and lasted a few hours. It never rained at our place and we had clear sky above but we watched the storms to the west, north and east.  It was constant lightening for hours!

I love watching lightening storms from is distance as you can see it jump from cloud to cloud.  I got out my Canon camera, put on my wide angle lens and shot long exposure shots ( 2 to 3 secs).  I think I took about 200 photos but I get such a rush from trying to catch that unique shot!

These next two show the top of the storm cell well and you can catch a glimpse of the stars in the clear sky to the left.

Here is this same system half hour later to the north. You can see the Big Dipper and Little Dipper pouring into it! ;)

  5. Ditto to Maureen, super colours there from lime green to deep indigo, they could so easily be in a quilt. Your time shots are all amazing.

  6. Wow - I always love your nature shots. That last one looks like a clown jack in the box with his tassel hat with a long nose and goatee. It doesn't take much to spark my imagination. Thanks for posting these.

  7. Beautiful shots...I love a thunderstorm---at a distance. The lights along the road...(I assume they are streetlights or highway lights) looks like large illuminated flowers beneath the storm. Just beautiful...I see your talents go far beyond quilting. Blessings from another Kathy in WV/USA.

  8. We don't experience storms of this type here in Nova Scotia, and I am fascinated by your pictures of this type of weather. It is so much fun to try to capture the perfect shot during a weather event, or other happenings. Thanks for sharing yours with us.
