Disappearing Hourglass Quilt

Audrey pieced this lovely Disappearing Hourglass quilt using Kate and Birdie's Winter Lane collection.  The pattern is a Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial, you can see the video here.

I used off white So Fine thread, Quilters Dream Blend batting and Bora Bora for the pantograph design.

The backing was a perfect colour match!  It is Nest by Lella Boutique in aqua.

Its been warming up here a bit, getting a few days above freezing so that has been nice.

Locomotion Quilt

Lori made this Locomotion Quilt for a birthday gift for someone that use to work on the railroad.  The pattern is free online at Blank Quilting Corporation, here is the link.  The panel fabrics are also by Blank Quilting in their Locomotion line.

I quilted it with the London Fog pantography to look like steam rising out of the stack. Used grey So Fine thread and Lori brought Pellon cotton batting.

Here is a close up of the center panel.

And while we are on the subject of trains I have to share something my husband made for my mini quilt shop on his train layout. My shop now has its own longarm and the machine slides back and forth! Now I just have to figure out how to load a quilt on it.

North Star Quilt in Progress

I was at a local quilt retreat his weekend and made good progress on my latest project.  Back in October I shared that I was collecting fabrics for the North Stars quilt by Elizabeth Hartman and I started working on it at my Tuesday sewing group in mid January. Here is an update on what I have finished so far.

Lucille The Seal was the first block done.

Then Neville Narwhal was next.

Followed by Olive and Oswald Otter.

Have to share a close up of the cute otter fabrics I used in that block.

I finished Reggie the Reindeer at the retreat this weekend.  ( Yes I know there is a piecing error, I'll fix that at my next Sew Day).  Had tiny reindeer fabrics to add into that block too.

Also finished Fritz and Fred Fox at the retreat and yes I had some darling tiny fox print fabrics to add to that block too! :)

I started the Muskox block but that is still in pieces.  I was hoping to find some tiny muskox fabrics but can you believe that one is hard to find.  Lol!  The animal prints are all from a collection by Lewis and Irene called Small Things Country Creatures

Four Patch Charm Quilt in Black

Lori pieced this bright and bold quilt using my free pattern called Four Patch Charm Quilt which can be downloaded off my sidebar.  Lori used a solid black background to allow the bright batik fabrics to pop!

I quilted it with the Mimosa pantograph, used black So Fine thread and Lori brought a Pellon Cotton batting.

It was a chilly morning to be out taking quilt pictures in snow. It was -32'c and colder with the windchill!

Scrappy Batik Staircase Quilt

Audrey pieced this lovely quilt called Scrappy Batik Staircase which is a pattern she enlarged from the May 2017 Quilters Connection Newsletter.  She started piecing it right away and had the top finished that summer so it has be 'marinading' as she put it for 2 1/2 years. But in quilting terms that is not long at all is it?  :)

She also pieced the backing with a strip of the batik pieces and inserted it into a white Fireside backing.  Since this can be a challenge to roll on a longarm frame vertically I rolled it on horizontally so to keep the stretch and tension on the backing even. Worked wonderfully.

We picked Tickle for the pantograph design, used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

I was nice to see the blue sky for half a day and now it is back to cloudy skies and more snow flurries.

I received my copy of my Blog Book for 2019.  This is something I do every year with my blog post so I have a permanent record of all the quilting I have done.  I used a company called Blog2Print for this service.

I now have eleven of these books on my shelf!

Twilight Hopscotch and Big and Bold Quilts

Janice pieced this lovely quilt called Twilight Hopscotch by Kim Diego from the book Simple Comforts in 2009.  This has been in her UFO pile for a while and I'm happy to help her get it to the almost finished stage!

I used the panto Rhapsody, beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Love the texture the quilting creates on this quilt!

Janice also brought this very pretty quilt top and the pattern she used is called Big and Bold by Cozy Quilt Designs. I quilted it with the Wave on Wave pantograph, used yellow So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Inventory Reduction Sale on Now!

Thought I would share the news of a sale in our Highway 10 Designs Etsy Shop and on our new Website.  We have 6 of our paper patterns on sale for 50% off!  Who doesn't love a sale!

Here are the 6 paper patterns that we put on sale.

Now for those that are new to my blog I should clarify that I also design quilt patterns with my friend Lori Suss and we are Highway 10 Designs. I know many of you read my blog through readers like Bloglovin or get my post via emails so don't see all the things Highway 10 on my blogs side bar.  I also have a list of tutorials ( fabric dyeing, free patterns, quilting tutorials, photography tips, etc), and a link to my Pinterest and Instagram page on there as well.  If you want to start getting my blog by email you can find the 'follow by email' form on my side bar.  So I just want to invite you to come visit my actual blog site if it has been awhile.

Another thing you many not know about is I do have a website for Tamarack Shack.  I just recently had my pantograph section updates with some new pantographs and took off some older designs that I wasn't using. Lots of great info on how to prepare you quilt for longarm quilting and a gallery of photos of quilts I have worked on.

I also have a Facebook page for Tamarack Shack as well as for Highway 10 Designs

Now back to my usual quilting posts!

This is Jenni's Star Wars quilt and I was so happy to finally be able to use one of my new pantographs called Galaxy!  It was perfect for this quilt.

I used blue So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.  The quilting shows up so well on the solid black backing!
