Linen Baskets and Corduroy Compass Bags

I thought at the end of each month I would share what bags I have making.  This month I have been focused on the Divided Basket, pattern by Noodlehead.  I have been using cotton/linen blend for the body of the baskets and a linen/canvas print for the front pocket. I used Soft and Stable for the batting and it gives it great shape!  This basket also gave me an opportunity to use up all the short pieces of leather I had from making bag straps.

I used a deep red batik for the lining on this one to make the red blossoms.

I just purchased some grey linen and some fun kids prints that would look great in a nursery room so will share those next month!

I have also being busy making more Compass Bag but this time making them out of corduroy!  I now have a new obsession with corduroy as they look and feel so soft!

I like to make the bag linings interesting and its been fun to shop for fabrics I wouldn't normally by for quilting.

I am still making the Cambridge bag in Waxed Canvas and have a few one hand.

I have been sharing all my resent makes on my Instragram page which is tamarackshack2.0 if your are interested in seeing more.

Counting Sheep Quilt

Kim made this sweet Counting Sheep quilt for her grandsons, pattern by Woolen Needle.  All the sheep are made from wool and she hand appliqued them down with a blanket stitch.  The backgrounds are a mix of wovens and cottons and the outer border is homespun.

Kim wanted curly quilting and we decided on Popcorn as I have done that design on other quilts for her grandsons.   I also think this is quilt is perfect for her grandsons as they call her Ba!

I quilted it with a taupe So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream blend batting.

Smitten Quilt

Linda hand pieced this extraordinary 'Smitten' quilt, the pattern is by Lulu Well for Sunspell.   This is an English Paper Piecing technique pattern so all hand pieced. I was very impressed with her tiny hand stitches as I am trying to learn how to EPP myself.   Linda used straps from her stash and a friends stash to make this quilt.

Linda asked for a pantograph design that is smooth with no points so we picked Ginger Snap!  I used a medium taupe So Fine thread and she brought a wool batting.

Linda did an amazing job picking fabrics for this quilt!

Stars on Ice Quilt

I have seen this quilt called Stars on Ice and it is made with the traditional 54-40 or Fight block turned on point.  Donna pieced this crisp and stunning quilt using white and navy batiks with snowflake motifs. So glad we have snow to photograph it in!

We thought about quilting it with snowflakes but then decide that Bora Bora would be the best design and it really worked well.  I used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

I had a white/grey Northcott Crackle wide cotton in my bolt collection and it worked perfect for the backing.

Triple Barnstar Quilt #2

This quilt pattern may look familiar as I just quilted the same one last week but it was made with different fabrics.  I love how the same pattern can look so different depending on the fabrics chosen.
This one is Gail's Triple Barnstar quilt and she chose the Limoncello fabric collection by Greta Lynn for Kanvas. She added a light yellow batik background and borders to make this a queen sized quilt.

The fabrics have quite a few butterfly prints so Gail suggested a butterfly pantograph.  I had the perfect once called Fanciful Flyers.  I used a light yellow So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Gail purchased the backing from me as I had a wide Northcott Stonehenge in grey that matched perfectly.

We have had a cold snap here but that means lovely blue skies!

I quilted it with the Ginger Snap pantograph and used pink So Fine thread.

The backing is a cozy pink flannel.
