Snowflake Quilt

My friend Shelly made this super fun Snowflake quilt and the pattern by Modern Handcraft.    When she brought me this quilt I knew I had to wait for the first snowfall to get some pictures and also had to take one under our local Snowmobile Club sign.  You see Shelly is originally from NW Ontario and once I moved here discovered she was from Atikokan to be exact!  She has told me a few funny stories about growing up there and how the snowmobile club is called the Sno-Ho Club.  And even better she was crowned Sno-Ho Princess in 1979 and was sponsored by a business in Emo!  I tried my best to get a photo for proof but no luck!

Shelly asked for vertical quilting on this one so that is what I did.   I used black So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.  The backing is a cozy Mammoth Flannel.

Family Treasure

Marlene sent me a very special quilt top to custom quilt for her.  This beautiful hand appliqued quilt was made by her sister-in-law Anne and her mother-in-law as a joint project. They both since passed away and Marlene discovered the top while going through Anne's quilting supplies. What a treasure to discover amongst all the finished quilt tops Anne had made over the years.    We do not know the name of the pattern but if you are familiar with it can you please let me know!  ( Thank you to my blog reader Karen who commented the pattern is called The Blessings by Robyn Fallon of Bon Bon Designs!)

I quilted it with open feathers in the outer border, SID around the applique petals and added tall loops in each piece.  I SID around all the applique in each block, added curls in the sashing and feathers in the background of the blocks to match the outer border.

Marlene sent a lovely grey Fireside backing and it really added to the custom quilting giving it great texture.

I used 3 colours of Bottom Line 60 wt thread on the top and grey Bottom Line on the back.  Batting is a white poly.

I'm sure this quilt will be treasured by Marlene and her family and fill them with wonderful memories of Anne and her mom.  It was an honor to be have a small part in its completion.

Clover Quilt

Shelly made this pretty Clover quilt, the pattern is by Cluck Cluck Sew.  Love the fabrics she chose, the give it a retro feel so naturally I thought Bountiful Feathers would be the perfect pantograph design.

I quilted it with white So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

We were suppose to get quite a few inches of snow this weekend but nothing. It all stayed 40km to the north of us so we still have a green landscape for now.

Winter Pines

Gay made the lovely Winter Pines batik quilt and the pattern is by Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I quilted it with the Snow Winds pantograph, light blue So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

The forecast is for snow flurries this week so my landscape might be changing soon.

Live to Ride Quilt

Lori made this great 'Live to Ride' quilt using a panel by David Textiles. I quilted it with the Ebb and Flow pantograph but loaded the quilt sideways so the design would run vertical and look like flames.

I used red So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

My little 'Autumn Blaze' Maple tree is looking brilliant in its fall colours.

Hope your enjoying a lovely fall weekend!

Wonderful Woodland Quilt

Shelly made this fun Wonderful Woodland quilt, the pattern is by Art East Quilting Co.  I quilted it with free hand Wood Grain quilting, used beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Shelly brought a really fun backing fabric called "The Outdoorsy Type" by The Alexander Henry Fabrics Collection 2007.  Had a good laugh when I saw what she sent, it was perfect for this quilt!

Okay here is another picture of the back. :)
