Fish Wall Hanging

Cathy made this fun Fish wall hanging using a fusible raw edge applique technique.  I love the fabrics she chose for the fish as well as the background but the fish bone fabric in the sashing is my favorite!

I quilted it with the Time Warp pantograph, used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Cathy also sent a lovely lap quilt which I quilted with the Wild Flowers pantograph, used blue So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Alternate Routes Quilt #12

I always enjoy quilting a Highway 10 Designs quilt, especially one that is 10 years in the making.  Melanie started this quilt when Lori and I presented this pattern to our guilds as a Mystery quilt 11 years ago so I was very touched that Melanie reached out to me to see if I would quilt it for her.

This pattern is called Alternate Routes and has 20 layout options but we like to encourage quilters to think out of the box and use those layouts as inspiration.  Melanie liked the asymmetrical layouts and created this lovely design with a star in the upper corner.

I quilted it with the Taro Pantograph, used beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.  Melanie sent a lovely beige Fireside for the backing so it will be great to snuggle under.

We have had a lot of snowfall this week, so spring is still feels a long way away. But the temperatures are starting to get above freezing so there is hope it melts soon.

The Northern Lights were dancing across Canada last night and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to take pictures when they appear.

Rarely do they appear overhead this far south so it really reminded me of the nights watching the aurora in northern Manitoba.

Delectable Mountains Quilt

This Delectable Mountains quilt was our guilds project this past fall.  We asked our members to make a few blocks using medium to dark blue on one side and light blue, beige or light grey for the background. I have to say it turned out pretty spectacular!

We ended up with 100 blocks which are 6 1/2" x 8" and did a 10 x 10 layout making a quilt that is 60" x 75".

I quilted it with the London Fog pantograph, used a light beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

I had a grey 108" wide Northcott Stonehenge to use for the backing.

Our guild will donate this quilt to a local organization or someone in need.

I had to trudge through knee deep snow which had a hard crust on top to get to this spot.  Just when I thought I could walk on top of the crust I would break through. lol!  But it was worth the walk!  This is the field behind our house that use to have horses, its been a year since they were sold so I have been missing them.

Quarter Sections in Little Fawn and Friends

Last year I bought a sweet Fat Quarter Bundle at Thread Count Quilt Shop that contained a few fabrics from Dear Stella's Little Fawn and Friends.  It was a great curated bundle of gingham, blenders and linens with the Dear Stella fabrics and knew it would make a cute baby quilt.  Well I had enough to make two using our  Highway 10 Designs Quarter Sections pattern as it only uses 5 fat quarters for a baby quilt.

I had bought a few end bolts of Fireside awhile ago from Keystone Modern Creative so used those for the backing to make a soft and cuddly quilt.

I used the brown Fireside and Dream Blend batting on the quilt with the squirrel fabrics and brown gingham. I quilted it with the Rhapsody pantograph.

I used the beige Fireside and Dream Puff batting on the one with the Animal Floral prints and pink gingham.  I quilted this one with the Poplar pantograph.

I was able to fussy cut the borders so the animals were the focus.

I took one on our daily snowshoe walk as it was +6'c. The snow is melting and I can see grass in my yard!

I am planning on doing a craft market this spring to sell a few of my waxed canvas bags, wood signs and a few baby quilts so will add these new ones to the display. I have been making 12" wood signs like crazy and here is a sneak peek!

I have tried a few inlay wood Mariners Compass circles as well.

Red Pandas Quilt #2

Janice made this adorable Red Pandas quilt for a great niece.  The pattern is by Art East Quilting Co. and she bought all her solid fabrics from Keystone Modern Creative in Winnipeg.

I quilted it with the Ombre pantograph, used green So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Oh and you don't need to point out the piecing mistakes, she saw them before bring the quilt to me and was fine with the creative spin she put on the quilt!  Now you're going to look for them aren't you?
