Rising Star Quilt

This is Yvonne’s Rising Star quilt by Cozy Quilt Designs and she purchased this as a kit when at the Phoenix Quilt Show last year.   I love this quilt, all batik fabrics and she let me custom quilt it with feathers!   I stitched in the ditch around the stars and 16 patch and then CC’s in all the 2 1/2” squares.  I quilted loops in the inner border and bead board in the outer border.   Quilters Dream Blend batting, beige So Fine thread on top and beige Bottom Line on the bottom.

I took indoor and out door picture and was happy with how they all turned out so there is an overload of picture in this post!

Labyrinth Walk Quilt

This is Corinne’s Labyrinth Walks quilt that she made as a wedding gift for her friends who are ministers.   She loved how this patterns looked like a tile floor so wanted the quilting to reflect that.  I decided to using pebble as the main design element in the light green fabrics, a simple heart stipple in the dark green and leave the black unquilted.  I stitched the whole quilt in the ditch to allow the piecing to really stand out.   The outer border was quilted with diagonal lines to add to the 3D feel of the pattern.

It’s been very windy here to glad I had a helper home to hold the quilt for me to get a full picture.

Autumn Sunrise

Took this sunrise picture a few days ago and thought I would share.  Love the colors!

I had a tooth pulled this morning so I’m distracting myself on the computer while biting on gauze waiting for the freezing to come out of my face! I’ve been dealing with a lot tooth issues this year, had two root canals this month and then this extraction today.  Seems having braces when I was younger is the culprit as some of my roots are reabsorbing. Fun Fun! Hope this is the end of the ache I have been living with for almost a year now.

Halloween Hopscotch Quilt

This is Sheri’s Halloween Quilt that she made out of her scraps of Halloween fabrics.   She used the Hopscotch pattern to piece it and I quilted it with the Gossamer panto as it reminds me of spider webs.

I love the bright purple flannel she used for the backing and the quilting shows off well on it!  I used Quilters Dream Blend batting, Black So Fine thread on top and Purple Bottom Line on the back.

Yellow Brick Road in Browns

This is Yvonne’s Yellow Brick Road quilt and it has such a soft look done in shades of brown with an accent of green.    It was Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada we had beautiful weather.  The snow is all gone and we had sunny skies all weekend but I know we will be digging out the snow boots and parkas soon.

The pantograph is Tickle, Quilters Dream Blend batting and a medium beige So Fine thread.

Wildlife Quilt

This is Donna’s quilt that she made for her granddaughter who lives in New Zealand.  She requested a quilt using fabrics with images of Canadian animals and Donna did a great job creating this quilt…no pattern.  Did I mention Donna is a beginner quilter?  She did a great job picking fabrics for this quilt, the colours in her borders and setting blocks really go well with the animal prints.  I quilted it with the Whirlygig panto, chose a khaki green So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Silly Otters!

Yesterday I noticed some splashing going on out in our bay so I grabbed my camera to investigate.  To my delights there were four otters playing together and had just hopped on my neighbours dock when I got down to the water.  They were having fun rolling around in the snow! It was fun to watch and I wish I had video taped it too!   I see the otters often but they usually are in the water so all I see is their heads, it was nice to get pictures of them out of the water.

I thought this was funny!  All four of them are laying on their backs rolling back and forth in the snow. My sister in law called this “happy puppy time” as that is what her dog does.

Last night the moon was looking very eerie peeking out behind the clouds and I got a great shot of the moonlight on the lake and dock.  I was hoping to see the lunar eclipse this morning but it was cloudy.

First Snow of the Year

This is Michele’s Strips and Salsa quilt using the Cuzco fabric collection.  I used Happy Times for the quilting design and Quilters Dream Blend batting.   I was hoping to get pictures outside today but it has been snowing for two days now.  Yesterdays snow was melting but today it is starting to accumulate!

We still have leaves on some of the trees and the Tamaracks are turning yellow now!

If you look closely you can see some ducks on the lake.

This should all melt as it is a bit early for the snow to stay.

Tubby Duckies

This is Wendy’s cute baby quilt and she requested one of the new pantographs I added to my website called Tubby Duckies.  This is the first time I have quilted this panto and just love it!  Wendy sent Bamboo batting and asked that it be quilted with two layers and that turned out well, the quilting design really shows nicely.

Woke up to snow on the ground this morning, hope it melts!!

BQ 2 Quilt

This is Sandra’s BQ 2 quilt that she made using all batik fabrics.   She wanted the center of the quilt to be an edge to edge design and the borders quilted separately.  Once we decide on using the Come Dance with Me panto for the center we discussed the idea of a feather swirl design in the outer border.   I wanted the feather style to match the panto so did a large swirl with two molar feathers, I think it suited the print in the batiks as well.  She requested some hearts in the inner 1” purple border so did tiny loops and hearts there.

To keep this quilt light with good loft I used Dream Puff batting.
