Labyrinth Walk Quilt #4

Patti made this lovely Labyrinth Walk quilt, a pattern by The Guilty Quilter.  She used all batik fabrics and I love the shades of purple against the black background.  Patti asked for it to be custom quilted like the other ones I have done so that saved me time on the planning stage.

I quilted the light purple area with pebbles, the dark purple with water meander and all the seams are SID.  I did a diagonal lines in the outer border that kept with the angles at the two corners.

The backing was a lovely grey Grunge fabric.  I used 4 different So Fine thread colours on top ( white, black, light purple and dark purple) and two Bottom Line colours on the back ( black in border only and light purple for the rest).

The river is trying to freeze but it will probably be a few more weeks until that happens.

Washboard Road in Juniper

I just love this Christmas fabric from Kate & Birdie for Moda called Juniper!  I purchased a jelly roll and border fabric from Road 17N this fall and thought I would make a great Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road sample.  I finished this quilt a few weeks ago and have been waiting for more snow but I finally gave up on that and took it for a photoshoot today.

Found a great new spot to take picture along Barwick Rd. There is a property that has an old  homestead set up for display and I used that for the backdrop.  I was happy to be greeted by the property owner who had no problem with me taking quilt photos here.  I then get a text from a friend who lives near this property that she heard I was in the neighborhood taking quilt pictures! Wonder how she knew it was me?  LOL!

I quilted this one with Snow Winds pantograph, used white So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

We also went for a drive up to the lakes to see if the ice has formed. It was just starting up along the edges, it has been quite warm for this time of year. Today it was +5'c.

Georgia Quilt

Dawn made this fun lap sized quilt using a pattern by It's Sew Emma called Georgia.  She machine appliqued the flower block and pieced the 25 patch blocks.  My favorite part about this quilt is the border fabric!  It is called Little Kukla by Suzy Ultman for Robert Kaufmann but it might be hard to find now as the only reference I found online for this fabric was in 2012.  These adorable Matryoshka dolls are so colourful and were a fun addition to this pattern.

Dawn chose Chantilly Lace for the pantograph, I used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.  She brought a lovely white Minkie for the back so it will be cozy to cuddle under.

Chevron Quilt

Dawn made this very pretty Chevron Quilt using a floral fabrics that I think is a combination of Moda's Blackbird Design collections ( but if you know what it is please let me know in the comments).  I like how she made each zig zag a different colour.  She asked for Whirlygig for the panto design and I used ecru So Fine thread.  The batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

Convoy Quilt

Dawn made this fun kids quilt called Convoy, the pattern is in the Buggy Barn book titled Those Crazy Kids.  The wheels are all a wool applique to add texture to the quilt.

I quilted it with the London Fog pantograph, beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

City Slicker in Home Sweet Home

Barb made this sweet City Slicker quilt, which is a Highway 10 Designs pattern, using a Moda Home Sweet Home Jelly Roll.   I quilted it with the Hearts in Bloom pantograph and used white So Fine thread.  The batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

What better place to photograph a City Slicker than at a small town country fairgrounds.

Backing is called Bloomington by Lella Boutique.

Washboard Road in Hoffman Batiks

We had another wonderful friend test our new Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road pattern and I'm excite to share hers with you.  This beauty was pieced by Reneta and she used a Hoffman Bali Pop called Mercury that she had lying around in her stash.   She used a solid back for the backing and wow does it allow the fabrics to shine!

Reneta chose the Bora Bora pantograph for this one as she sees 'flight' in this quilt top.  Geese in formation is a great image that it comes to mind when looking at this quilt.  I love how people see different things in a quilt design, inspiring the imagination.

I had a lot of fun taking pictures as we just had a light snowfall adding to the scenery.  My husband was a good sport holding the quilts in the farmers fields around our place.

I used charcoal So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Just a reminder that we are having a 15% off sale on all our paper and PDF patterns in our Etsy Shop and on our Website.  Sale lasts until Nov 15, 2020.

I have two more versions of this pattern to share with you soon, both with a very different colour palette!

Washboard Road - Highway 10 Designs Pattern #15

It has been almost a year since Lori and I published a new pattern for Highway 10 Designs.   Its been a crazy year but we finally found our design mojo again and are happy to present 'Washboard Road".
To celebrate the release of our 15th pattern we are having a sale in our shops.  15% off all our patterns in both our Etsy shop and Website starting today and going until Nov 15, 2020.

This is a great pattern for using either a Jelly Roll, Fat Quarter Bundle or Fat Eighth Bundle!

This sample was made with Fairy Dust Ombre by V & Co. for Moda.  Lori pieced and quilted this one and she sent it to me to bind and take pictures for the cover and social media. I thought that was a good deal!

This pattern has instructions for 4 sizes: Throw, Twin, Queen and King.

We had a few of our quilting friends test our new pattern and I am happy to share Amy's today too!  She used a solid navy background with an Ombre Confetti Metallic Jelly Roll by V & Co. for Moda. I love how this pattern looks with a dark background! She didn't add a border to give it a modern look. Our pattern has fabric requirements for with or without borders in all sizes.

Washboard Road is now available in our Etsy Shop and on our Website in both paper and PDF download formats. Don't forget all our pattern are 15% off from Nov 5 to 15!

There is nothing like sitting by a lake or taking a relaxing walk down a gravel road in the fall time!
