Simply Retro - Vintage Quilt

Peggy made this fun quilt for her granddaughter.  The pattern is called Vintage from the book Simply Retro by Camille Rosekelley.  Peggy used a Moda line called Lil' Red which is a the Little Red Riding Hood themed collection.

I used Hearts in Bloom for the pantograph, white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

I took this quilt to the Exhibition Hall in Emo as they just painted the railings red.  Unfortunately I went at the wrong time of day as most of the railing was in shadow but I did manage to get a few pictures that turned out.

Home Quarter - Highway 10 Designs Pattern #14

Lori and I are happy to announce the release our latest pattern for Highway 10 Designs, introducing Home Quarter.  It is a Fat Quarter Friendly pattern and is now available in our Etsy Shop in Paper and PDF versions.  We had been asked if we could design another pattern similar to Quarter Sections but make the blocks bigger so that is what we did.  This pattern also works great with directional prints as all the blocks are oriented in the same direction.

I made this first sample using Moda's Sunday Supper collection as I love the colours and variety of prints in this line.   I had this fat quarter bundle sitting my my stash for a few years and not sure what to do with it.  So glad I bought it on impulse as it worked great for this project.  I quilted it with the Plush pantograph, used a light teal So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

My second sample is made with Lewis and Irene's Winter Garden collection.

I quilted leaves in the outer border and used the Poplar pantograph in the center.  Quilted it with 2 So Fine thread colours, burgundy and grey, and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Our third sample Lori made using a mix of light to dark grey batiks from her stash. Check out her blog post here.

I hope our three samples demonstrate how this pattern works well with any fabric line or fat quarters in your stash!

Home Quarter includes instructions for 6 different sizes from Lap to King and is available in our Etsy shop in Paper and PDF downloadable forms.

String Bean Quilt

Here is another one of Shelly's fabulous colour themed quilts using her stash.   I have quilted her red quilt here, her orange one here and yellow one here!   The pattern is called String Beans and is from the book Simply Colour - Green by V&Co.   Shelly asked for it to be stippled as that is her favorite quilting design.  I SID all the seam in the green log cabin pieces and that makes for a nice contrast with the stippling.

I used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Third Round Robin - Fourth Round

Its been a while since I shared photos from our Round Robin project as we had to put a delay on our activity as Bronwyn fell and broke her wrist in July.  I'm happy to report that her wrist is almost healed and she has been given the green light to use a rotary cutter again!
So my last post about our Round Robin was back in May here, and I shared that our next Round was going to be Curved blocks so here they are.  Mine is the one above and I used the Quick Curve Ruler to make the Chic Sisters block. I used a scrappy background of low volume beige and alternated the focus fabric in the blades.

The next is Bronwyn's block.  She did a Concentric Circle design.

Lori did a fractured circle and used our focus fabric in the spaces.

Desley did a twist on the Card Trick block and added the circles to the centers of the squares.

Our last round is due November 1 and the theme is Flowers.

Cracked Pepper Quilt

This is Vicki's Cracked Pepper quilt and the pattern is by Madison Cottage Design.  Vicki made her quilt larger than the pattern size by adding two rows of squares to the top and bottom of the quilt. I like how she added the one 'dash of pepper' to the top and bottom rows.

Since the quilt has a modern feel I used Modernish for the pantograph design, off white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

We had a lovely misty morning here and the spider webs on my deck were covered in dew.

This last photo has convinced me to get a glass ball to use for Glass Ball photography.  Love the inverted image the drops of water create and that is the fun of taking pictures with a clear glass ball.

Chain + Link Quilt

This is Vicki's Chain + Link quilt and the pattern is by Don't Call Me Betsy, you can purchase the pattern here.  These blocks are over-sized so I chose Popcorn for the pantograph as it works well on large blocks and is perfect for kids quilts.

I used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Broken Dishes Quilt

This is Patty's Broken Dishes quilt which is a pattern by Julie Hendrickson.  Patty took a class with her on a quilting cruise and put this project onto her UFO list to finish this year.  She said she loves the simple designs, reproduction quilts and traditional patterns.

Patty asked for straight line quilting on this one to give it a hand stitched feel.  That is easy to do on my longarm as I just load the quilt sideways and use my channel locks to create the straight lines.  I eyeball the spacing to just over 1/2". I only had to rip out one line as my channel lock didn't engage and I didn't notice until I was half way across the quilt.  I was wondering why the spacing was getting larger on that row! :)

The thread is a beige So Fine and batting is Quilters Dream Blend.
