Star White, Star Bright Quilt

Lucinda made this great paper pieced quilt called Star White, Star Bright.  Pattern is by Bryan House Quilts, it was published in the August 2016 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting, you can find info about it here

I quilted it with the Whitecaps pantograph, used white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

We are still stuck in this deep freeze, this morning it was -39'c (-41'c with windchill).  Yesterday I was getting cabin fever so Tim and I bundled up and went outside for half hour to toss some hot water.  Its one of those fun cold weather things I like to photograph. Tim is much better at tossing the water than I am, he gets a good fan shape to his toss!

Cold Snap!

Its been pretty cold here this week with daytime highs of -25'c and night lows of -35'c.  So I haven't been venturing outside to take quilt pictures or any pictures!
This is Darcy's quilt and she made it for her son.  It looks like she used the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern and sashed the blocks!  Love the brown and teal fabrics she chose.  She asked for a simple stipple so I did my best to free hand that design and keep the scale consistent across this large bed sized quilt.

I used medium brown So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

I also finished Bev's Amelia's Meadow quilt which is a pattern by Fig Tree Quilts. She used pretty coral and brown batiks and a wonderful matching fireside backing!  I used the Whirlygig panto, coral So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Pecking Order Quilt

Theresa made this lovely Pecking Order quilt, pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Co.  She used a Moda line called Stiletto which I have a Jelly Roll of hiding in my stash.  Hummm now that I see how great it looks in my living room I think need to make a quilt with it next!  :)

I quilted it with the Come Dance with Me pantograph which fills in the light background so nicely.  I used off white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Theresa brought a great black Northcott Canvas wide back which really shows off the quilting as I used a light silver Bottom Line thread on the back.

I definitely need to make something with my Stiletto fabrics!

Beacons Quilt

Tracy pieced this lovely Beacons quilt, pattern by Purple Pineapple Studio.  Love the red she used for the background, really makes the design pop!

I quilted it with the Taro pantograph, and used Quilter Dream Blend batting.  Now this might sound like an odd choice but I used brown So Fine thread instead of red.  The reason is I found the red too bold on the pieced blocks and the backing was a medium beige so didn't want to use red on the back as I match top and bottom thread colours.  This way I could use a medium brown on the back which looked great and the brown blended in on the top really nicely.
