Critter Caboodle Quilt

Linda did a fabulous job picking fabrics and machine appliqueing this sweet baby quilt that she made for Thomas, her first grandchild.  The pattern is called Critter Caboodle by Linda Hohag from Brandywine Design.

She asked for custom quilting and I started with a feather curl design in the outer border and curls in the inner border/sashing.  I then SID around all the applique, added a stipple in the grass on each block and swirls/meander/loops/clouds in the backgrounds.

I used 6 different Bottom Line 60wt thread colours on the top and bottom and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

What a beautiful gift from Grandma to Grandchild!

Walk About Quilt

Lori made this lovely floral quilt called Walk About, a pattern by Grizzly Gulch Gallery. She used a line of fabrics called Flower Show by Wilmington Prints for the squares and tonal purple and green fabrics for the arrow blocks.

I quilted it with the Come Dance with Me pantograph as the ruffle leaves in that design really complimented the ruffled flowers in the print.  I used a cream So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Lori also brought me this sweet 'Ocean Life' lap sized quilt using the Octopus Garden panel designed by Amy Schimler for Robert Kaufman.  I quilted with the Ebb and Flow pantograph and used turquoise So Fine thread.

Bonanza Diamond Quilt

Shelly made this modern Bonanza Diamond queen sized quilt which was a BOM in 2020 designed by Kat Wilson Tucker of Next Step Quilt Designs.  They do not offer the kits anymore but might still have the pattern available.

I quilted it with the Come Dance with Me Pantograph, used beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Shelly also sent me this lap sized Belgian Lace quilt which was a Mystery Project designed by Melissa Marginet.

I quilted it with the Wildflowers pantograph, beige So Fine thread and used Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Barb's North Stars Quilt

This is Barb's North Stars Quilt, pattern by Elizabeth Hartman.  She made this as a challenge with her  sister-in-law Shelly in 2020 to make a block a month.  I quilted Shelly's a few weeks ago and then Barb sent me hers so it was fun to have quilted both.  They used fabrics from their stash so are both scrappy and unique in their colour choices making for a fabulous quilt!

I quilted it with the Snow Winds panto which is a lovely large snowflake design that really suits the Arctic animal theme.  I used light grey So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Waxed Canvas Tote with Kismet!

This weekend I made myself another fabulous Ruby Waxed Canvas Tote, pattern by Fabriculous Quilt Shop and you can find it on their website!   I ordered the grey waxed canvas and Kismet fabric collection from Fabriculous as well at the leather handle and rivets!  I have lost count how many of these bags I have made and given away...or kept for myself. Its the bag I use every day, great for running to the mail or getting groceries.  Guess those are pretty much the only places I go these days!

I had purchased a few zippers and zipper pulls from a new Canadian online shop called Zipper Valley this fall and finally got to use my Baby Yoda pulls on the inside zipper pocket.

I also added an extra small pocket inside to throw my keys in so I don't have to dig for them in the bottom of the bag.

I have been busy quilting this week but its been too windy and the ground too soggy (as the snow has all melted) to get outdoor photos!  Hope to get some pictures done this coming week!

But I have had some success getting photos of the Trumpeter Swans that briefly stop in our area before flying north. This was something I wanted to photograph since I moved here but kept missing my opportunity.  Well this time I really lucked out and even captured a mating pair showing off their moves so to speak!  I'll share their 'after' mating dance here, they were very happy!

This is another pair that started hooking before they took off.

What I thought was a photo fail (that zoom lens was getting heavy) but turned out quite nice with the reflection.

Moose Quilt

Robin made this great strip quilt for her grandson.  She machine appliqued a moose and tree onto the background strips. She asked for Ebb and Flow for the quilting design and then we picked a great blue So Fine thread that matched the bright blue in the strips.  Batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

Northern Lights as have still been mildly active all week.
