This is Donna’s quilt that she made for her granddaughter who lives in New Zealand. She requested a quilt using fabrics with images of Canadian animals and Donna did a great job creating this quilt…no pattern. Did I mention Donna is a beginner quilter? She did a great job picking fabrics for this quilt, the colours in her borders and setting blocks really go well with the animal prints. I quilted it with the Whirlygig panto, chose a khaki green So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Silly Otters!
Yesterday I noticed some splashing going on out in our bay so I grabbed my camera to investigate. To my delights there were four otters playing together and had just hopped on my neighbours dock when I got down to the water. They were having fun rolling around in the snow! It was fun to watch and I wish I had video taped it too! I see the otters often but they usually are in the water so all I see is their heads, it was nice to get pictures of them out of the water.
I thought this was funny! All four of them are laying on their backs rolling back and forth in the snow. My sister in law called this “happy puppy time” as that is what her dog does.
Last night the moon was looking very eerie peeking out behind the clouds and I got a great shot of the moonlight on the lake and dock. I was hoping to see the lunar eclipse this morning but it was cloudy.

First Snow of the Year
This is Michele’s Strips and Salsa quilt using the Cuzco fabric collection. I used Happy Times for the quilting design and Quilters Dream Blend batting. I was hoping to get pictures outside today but it has been snowing for two days now. Yesterdays snow was melting but today it is starting to accumulate!
We still have leaves on some of the trees and the Tamaracks are turning yellow now!
If you look closely you can see some ducks on the lake.
This should all melt as it is a bit early for the snow to stay.

Tubby Duckies
This is Wendy’s cute baby quilt and she requested one of the new pantographs I added to my website called Tubby Duckies. This is the first time I have quilted this panto and just love it! Wendy sent Bamboo batting and asked that it be quilted with two layers and that turned out well, the quilting design really shows nicely.
Woke up to snow on the ground this morning, hope it melts!!

BQ 2 Quilt
This is Sandra’s BQ 2 quilt that she made using all batik fabrics. She wanted the center of the quilt to be an edge to edge design and the borders quilted separately. Once we decide on using the Come Dance with Me panto for the center we discussed the idea of a feather swirl design in the outer border. I wanted the feather style to match the panto so did a large swirl with two molar feathers, I think it suited the print in the batiks as well. She requested some hearts in the inner 1” purple border so did tiny loops and hearts there.
To keep this quilt light with good loft I used Dream Puff batting.

Wishes
This summer I had purchased a fat quarter bundle of the Wishes collection from Road 17 N in Winkler and this weekend I decided to make a few baby quilts with them. I used a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman called Charm Squares Quilt Redux and you can download the pattern for free here. I had 15 fat quarters and made 3 Charm quilts plus had enough extra fabric to run through my Go Cutter using the Isosceles Triangle die and made a fourth. I used Kona Snow for the background and backing.
I quilted two with wavy lines and two with swirls. Used Quilters Dream Blend batting and off white So Fine thread.
Each Charm quilt is made with 5 different fat quarters and the Triangle quilt is made with scraps from all three quilts.

Autumn BQ4 Quilt
This is Robin’s BQ4 quilt in autumn batik colours and I was glad she gave me this quilt this time of year. She brought Hobbs batting, I used a gold shade of So Fine thread and used the Fascination pantograph.
If you remember the picture of Wendy’s Four Patch Charm quilt it was taken right here just a few days ago and now two of the birch trees are bare! Looks like it is time to get out the rake!
The last couple of days Tim and I have been going out for evening drives so I can get pictures of the beautiful fall colours so here are some of those pictures.
The first picture is a view over looking a small valley where the local x-country ski club has many of their trails. In the background is Ross Lake which is in the town of Flin Flon. If you look real hard you can see a few house but most of the buildings are out of view because of the trees.
The next couple of pictures were taking at the Scenic Tower at Bakers Narrows Provincial Park. I loved the clouds that day and this next picture is my absolute favourite!
And on our way home one night we meet up with our neighbourhood bear. He has been hanging around our road all week and I think the conservation officers finally trapped him this morning and moved him to a new location far away from the cottages.
Mahjongg #4
This is Iris’s Mahjongg quilt that she made in our guilds beginner class. She made hers similar to Moira’s by adding the same borders and used blue and purple batiks. The pantograph is called Joust, the batting is Quilters Dream Blend and the thread is a light blue So Fine. These beginner quilts have turned out amazing, they have all laid nice and flat on my machine with no issues at all.
The Northern Lights were active again Tuesday night so I took a few more pictures.
Our motion lights kept turning on behind me on the house but I was glad that it didn’t ruin my pictures, they still turned out good. That is why the garage is lit up so much! I love the effect the approaching clouds made across the lights at the bottom of the picture. I also didn’t realize I had the Big Dipper centered in the shot too!
