This is Heather’s Fancy Fox quilt and it is a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. She ask for it to be quilted flat and I was shown a picture of one done with wood grain quilting so that is what I did. I found the source of the picture, which was from the Red Red Completely Red blog which you can see here.
I don’t know the name of the fabric line used but know it was a kit she bought at Fabriculous in Swan River, MB.
I just quilted a slightly wavy line down the quilt and added the a wood knot to the lines randomly. I loaded the quilt sideways on my machine so the quilting process was very quick! I used a variegated grey Lava thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.
Many foxes - that's fine!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt and your quilting finishes it perfectly. I would not understand what a person wanted if they asked for "flat" quilting. Good thing I don't quilt for others. ;-)
ReplyDeleteit is a stunning quilt. But your quilting makes it!!

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your quilting talents and inspirations. I think the more we share the better it is too. I learn a lot from other quilters and their projects and appreciate everything. And definitely give credit where credit is due. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great and the wood grain design is perfect.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! The wood grain quilting design looks great on it.
ReplyDeleteCute and Foxy....still loving your frozen globes....they wouldn't have lasted two minutes over here, we are back to rain and mud again....
ReplyDeleteYour 'woodgrain' quilting is some of the best I have seen. I apologize for asking if it was a pantograph, on your more recent post. I just followed the link that you had given in that post, and I found this one telling how you did it. Wonderful !

ReplyDeleteHi Kathy... I am wondering what size the fox quilt block is? I am also interested in snow dyeing and what effect it has on the fabric. Janet
