This is Sherry’s Hand Appliqué quilt that was a Block of the Month project from one of the guilds she attends. She does beautiful hand work and I love the colors she used for this quilt, very pretty! She asked for custom quilting and wanted the appliqué to pop. I rarely use pebbles for a background fill but only because it makes for pretty intense quilting and I usually end up with a carpel tunnel attack! But this one was worth the risk and I’m happy to report no pain after! I decided to add different feather details to each block and then pebble the rest of the background area. Then simple cross hatching in the sashing and feathers in the outer border. Warning…this post has lot of pictures. :)
I used Invisifil for the background quilting and love this thread! It is a 100wt and works great for dense quilting with no thread build up.
The batting is Quilters Dream Blend.
Sherry was looking forward to seeing her quilt on the ice so I was very glad to see the sunshine yesterday!
Just beautiful! You and Sherry both do amazing work. I can't wait to see it up close at our guild meeting next month!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous. Sherry's applique and color selection are so very good. I do not like quilts with sashing as a general rule....but this one is beautiful. And your quilting is perfect and just sets off each one so nicely. Great job.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!

I've been following your blog for about a year, but I don't comment very often (sorry!). This quilt is stunning! I love all the different feathers, which are so interesting with the pebbling. Very nice work.
