Home Quarter Quilt in Boro Wovens

Kim made our Highway 10 Designs "Home Quarter" quilt at our guilds retreats last year before our province went into lockdown.  She used Moda's Boro Wovens and made the double size using 30 fat quarters. Here is a picture we took of it at the lodge when she finished piecing it!

I quilted it with the Bora Bora pantograph, used beige So Fine thread and batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

She bought a beautiful beige wide Grunge for the backing.

I have been having fun taking pictures of the hummingbirds again this year now that that are back at the feeders.

Its been very challenging to get the colours on the males throat as the colours disappear when the puff their feathers out.  And the angle of the light hitting the feathers has to be just right.

Here he is getting ready to chase the other hummingbirds away from the two feeders while his girlfriend was feeding. Fierce little fellow!

But caught a flash of this ones orange throat the other day. Hope to get better photos of this colours over the summer. I'm really enjoying the challenge of capturing these birds as you have to take the shots at very high speeds to see the feathers in the wings. Now my challenge this summer is to capture the colours of the males.

  1. Love the quilt against the rails, and then in flew the birds, beautiful, and a flash of red, just the thing after a cold winter to brighten the day.
