Matrix Quilt

Bev made this fun kids quilt from a pattern in the Spring 2014 Easy Quilts Magazine called Floral Matrix.  Instead of floral fabrics she use transportation themed kids fabrics and a black background.

I quilted it with the Cool Beans pantograph, black So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

The backing is a soft red flannel to make it extra snuggly!

Bringing Home the Christmas Tree Quilt

Peggy made this fun 'Bringing Home the Christmas Tree' quilt, the pattern is in Lori Holt's book Vintage Christmas.  The fabrics Peggy used are Red Barn Christmas by Sweetwater for Moda.

I quilted it with a pantograph I recently purchased called Advent, great for Christmas themed quilts!   Used off white So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Neighbours horses came over to take a look too!

I had a great opportunity to photograph some eagles by our house the other day.  I noticed 2 eagles in the field eating something then a group of crows started to bother them so one took off.

Once that eagle flew away I turned my attention to the one still eating in the field.

After getting home to take a closer look a these pictures I realized they were eating a duck! You can see its head very clearly dangling from its talons as it flew away.

Simply Dashing in Blue Stonehenge

Gay made our Highway 10 Designs Simply Dashing quilt in twin size for her grandson.  She picked Northcotts blue Stonehenge Gradations Ombre and a solid black background.

I quilted it with the Bayside pantograph, used black So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting. This is a gift for her grandson and he had asked for a blue, black and orange quilt.  You can see in the next picture where she put the orange! Orange Fireside for the win!

We had a lovely display of Northern Lights on Oct 12 so I was out enjoying the show with my camera.

They were still active the next morning at 6am. More purple with the sun ready to rise soon.

This got me thinking about pointing my camera up at the night sky again now that the days are shorter.  Last night I tried to capture Saturn and Jupiter and without a telescope it is pretty tricky.  I used my 600mm zoom and experimented with many different settings so I could finally see the rings on Saturn and the colour bands on Jupiter. So happy to finally capture them with my camera.

Making Waves Quilt

Nancy made this lovely modern Making Waves quilt which is a free pattern on the Art Gallery Fabrics website.   She bought the fabric as a kit at Keystone Modern Creative a few years ago.  The fabric line is called Catch and Release by Art Gallery.

Nancy likes her quilts to be densely quilted so I had the perfect panto, Time Warp! I used a teal So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

She brought a Northcott Shimmer wide backing and it matched so well!  I used dark grey Magna Glide bobbins for the back.  I have switched over to using the Magna Glide bobbins this year.  I use to wind my own Bottom Line bobbins but was having a lot of tension issues once the bobbin was half empty. Might have been my winder, might have been my bobbin, no idea.   But once I switched over to the Magna Glide bobbins no issues so I'm happy I made the change.

Tilted Nine Patch Quilt

This is Chris's Tilted Nine Patch quilt which is a pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Co.  She used scrappy beige fabrics for the background and shades of brown and a pop of green in the Tilted Nine Patches.

Love the secondary star pattern that emerges with her colour placement when the blocks are sewn together. You don't see this on the original pattern cover.

I quilted it with the Tickle pantograph, used light beige So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Chris brought a lovely beige Fireside for the backing.  Shows off the quilting pattern so nicely.

Shimmer Quilt

Gail made this beautiful blue and beige Shimmer quilt which was a pattern she found in the February 2004 edition of American Patchwork & Quilting.  It can also be purchased on the APQshop website for download.

I quilted Gail's quilt with blue So Fine thread and used the Plush pantograph.  Batting is Quilters Dream Blend.

Gail bought wide backing from me for this quilt.  I carry a small selection of Northcott Crackle and Stonehenge and she chose this blue Crackle that matches perfectly.
