The ice is starting to melt and we have a bit of open water around the dock and shoreline but it will be a week or so before our bay is free of ice.
This is the quilt we made at the last guild meeting for our Twister ruler demonstration. I think the ladies enjoyed using the ruler and seeing how easy it is to use.
Here is the quilt top before cutting with the ruler and then after. There is some fabric lose but the amount of time you save achieving this pattern definitely makes it worth it. And actually the left over fabric didn't go to waste as a guild member who salvaged the scraps from our fabric give-away bin made a lap quilt out of the remnants. We are a frugal bunch!
I quilted it using my Bombay Blossom pantograph and a soft pink So Fine thread.
Turned out so pretty...that's one of my favorite panto's!
ReplyDeletelove the colors, I will have to get my rulers out again and make one up with my scraps!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like spring is wlmost there,
It's so pretty. It has a very cottage like feel to it. I love the panto design you chose to quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you give us updates on the ice/snow, and outside photos. Oh, and very pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteKathy love the quilt!! Where did you get this panto from? I love it!

Karen, I bought Bombay Blossom (Threadsongs) from Willow Leaf Studio. It was one of the first pantos I bought when I started longarming.
ReplyDeleteDear Kathy, I am reading your blog for some weeks now. Yesterday I came across a blog where the lady said she wouldn´t blog if there were no readers or no comments. So now I am trying not only to read but also to comment. I don´t have a blog and I am new to blogland. In Winter I bought my first Longarm Machine and now I am trying to practise that much, that soon I will be able to quilt for other people. I just wanted you to know that your blog is one of my favourites. I love how you always post a picture of the panto and tell what thread you use as well as the beautiful photos from the quilts and your home. It is very inspiring. Many greetings from Germany, Inka

Inka thank you for introducing yourself and I glad your enjoying my blog. I hope your practising is going well and that you will be quilting for others in no time.
ReplyDeleteHi, I would like to ask what size the initial squares were that you cut for the quilt.
ReplyDeleteWe used the large Twister ruler so the initial squares were cut 10". I think it was designed so you could use layer cakes.
